Utah Turquoise Mines and Turquoise FactsExample Pictures are not necessarily the highest of grade, rather a good example of a common look from a particular mine.
Kennecot - Bingham
Kennecot Turquoise is a bi-product of the Kennecot Copper Mine in Utah. This turquoise mine didn't produce much highgrade turquoise. Most of what we have, and have cut is pretty soft and a light blue/green color.
It is funny, you would think Utah would have a lot of turquoise as it has many other wonderful minerals, most seem to be surface deposits though, maybe this is due to the political/religious situation in the state. I hope more surfaces in my lifetime.
